Custom Forged WheelFAQ

Engineering & Fitment

Q: What materials are LFI custom wheels made from? A: Most LFI wheels are 6061-T6 forged aluminium. The alloy is chosen because it offers a good balance of strength, machinability, and weight reduction for road and track use. For builds where weight is the overriding priority, LFI also works with forged AZ80-T6 magnesium with rare-earth additions. The Magnesium RE page explains the difference.

Q: What is Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and why do you use it? A: FEA is a structural simulation that reviews how a wheel design handles load before production. LFI simulates radial load, cornering force, torque, and tyre pressure against your vehicle's weight and use case. The output shows where stress concentrates — spoke roots, hub transitions, barrel junctions — so the design can be adjusted before machining. It is a review tool, not a guarantee. Physical testing, manufacturing quality, and correct use still matter.

Q: Will I need hub-centric rings or wheel spacers? A: No — where the vehicle geometry allows it. Offset, centre bore, brake clearance, and pad height are specified to your car before production. The goal is a wheel that mounts directly to the hub without rings or spacers. Some brake packages or platform constraints mean a small spacer is the pragmatic choice; LFI will tell you if that applies to your car.

Q: I have an aftermarket Big Brake Kit (BBK). Can you guarantee clearance? A: Yes. Brake clearance is one of the first checks in any LFI build. Send the caliper dimensions — or a photo with a ruler for reference — and LFI will map the clearance envelope against the wheel design. Spoke profile, barrel diameter, and backpad depth are all adjusted around the brake package before production.

Q: Are LFI wheels suitable for heavy Electric Vehicles (EVs)? A: Yes. EVs are heavier and produce more instant torque than most ICE cars, so load rating, tyre load index, and brake clearance matter more. LFI checks the vehicle's axle load, tyre plan, and use case before confirming the wheel specification. Selected EV builds are validated up to 1,050 kg per wheel.

Q: Will my factory TPMS and OEM centre caps fit? A: Yes. TPMS compatibility is standard. If you want to reuse factory centre caps, LFI can machine the centre cap pocket to match the OEM diameter, clip type, and depth — just tell us during the specification stage.

The Bespoke Process

Q: Will I get to see what my wheels look like before production starts? A: Yes. You approve a 3D render before production starts. It shows the face design, concave depth, and finish direction for your wheel specification. Nothing goes to machining until the render is signed off.

Q: How durable are your custom finishes, especially for track use? A: LFI uses powder coat and clear coat systems selected for heat resistance and durability. Track use generates high brake temperatures, and the finish is chosen with that in mind. Brushed and polished finishes need more maintenance than gloss or satin in Singapore's humidity. LFI can recommend the right finish for your use case.

Q: How do I commission a set, and what are the payment terms? A: Send your car details and target look via WhatsApp or email. LFI will prepare a specification, finish direction, and proposal. A 50% deposit confirms the build. The balance is due before delivery or collection. Full terms are on the How to Order page.

Production & Shipping

Q: Where are LFI wheels designed and manufactured? A: LFI's engineering, FEA, and design work happens in Singapore. Manufacturing takes place at LFI's wholly owned facility in Shenzhen. The location gives LFI direct control over forging, CNC machining, finishing, and quality control — the same team, the same process, the same traceability.

Q: How long does it take to manufacture my wheels? A: Most custom forged wheel builds take about 6-8 weeks from final approval, depending on the design, finish, production queue, and shipping route. Simple specifications with common finishes may complete faster. LFI will confirm the timeline for your build during the proposal stage.

Q: Do you ship internationally, and will I have to pay customs duties or taxes? A: Yes. LFI ships worldwide with tracked delivery. DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) is available for selected destinations including the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the EU, Malaysia, and Thailand — LFI handles customs clearance and duties. For other destinations, duties and taxes depend on local regulations and are the buyer's responsibility. LFI will confirm the shipping route and cost during the proposal stage.

Express shipping and economy surface shipping are both available. Transit time depends on the destination. LFI will confirm the options for your order.
