Combined-load FEA
Why radial load alone is not enough for wheel design, and how braking, cornering and combined loads change the engineering picture.
A balanced multi-spoke 6061-T6 monoblock forged wheel for drivers who want lightweight response, clean brake clearance and a timeless motorsport stance. REX-06 V2 uses I-beam spoke logic and aggressive side-through beam pocketing without pushing into the REX-0R Superleggera extreme.
REX-06 V2 is the wheel for customers who want the classic LFI multi-spoke forged look with real fitment engineering behind it. The core trick is not a flat spoke face: the spokes are treated as I-beams, then aggressively pocketed through the side so unused material leaves while the main load path stays purposeful.
The spoke section carries load like a beam: flanges and the main web do the useful work, while lower-value side mass is reduced through pocketing.
REX-06 V2 uses aggressive side-through beam pocketing to reduce rotating mass without turning the spoke into a thin decorative strip.
PCD, centre bore, width, offset, caliper envelope, load target, tyre size and finish are confirmed before machining.
REX-06 V2 does not make every build chase the absolute minimum weight. It keeps the better rule: remove unnecessary mass while preserving the load path around the hub, spoke roots, bolt seats, brake-side clearance and barrel transition.
The I-beam idea matters because a spoke does not need the same amount of material everywhere. REX-06 V2 keeps material where the beam is doing useful work, then uses side-through pocketing to cut away mass from the side of the spoke section. The result is a more purposeful stiffness-to-mass relationship than a plain thick spoke.
The principle is simple: remove material where it is not doing useful work, then confirm the finished wheel around the actual car. Diameter, width, offset, brake clearance, load target, tyre choice and finish all shape the final drawing.
REX-06 V2 uses targeted relief cuts and open spoke windows to remove non-structural mass, sharpen the wheel face, and show more of the brake package without making the design look flat.

These REX-06 V2 studio files show the wheel away from the car so the spoke windows, side pocketing, rim transition and finish can be read more clearly.

Use this table as a planning reference, not a universal promise for every build. The 17x7J REX-06 V2 reference specification is approximately 6.15 kg / 13.6 lb per wheel. Final mass changes with width, offset, brake clearance, bolt pattern, load target, finish and machining depth.

REX-06 V2 is not just a light-looking multi-spoke wheel. Its value is in how the I-beam spoke shape, side-through pocketing, brake clearance and final fitment work as one specification.
| Decision area | Typical aftermarket approach | REX-06 V2 direction |
|---|---|---|
| Design intent | Often selected for a lightweight look or a catalogue fitment that broadly clears the car. | REX-06 V2 is positioned as a balanced racing forged design: clean multi-spoke face, real weight reduction, and fitment drawn around the car. |
| Spoke architecture | May rely on simple spoke thinning, visual windows or decorative machining without a clear beam logic. | I-beam spoke logic keeps material along the useful load path, then uses side-through pocketing to remove lower-value side mass. |
| Pocket machining | Relief cuts can be shallow styling details or hidden where the customer cannot read the engineering intent. | Aggressive side-through beam pocketing is visible on the car, showing the brake package while reducing mass in the spoke shoulder. |
| Brake clearance | Generic offsets can need spacer correction when caliper clearance, face profile and tyre position do not line up. | Width, offset, centre bore, caliper envelope, spoke profile and tyre position are planned together before machining. |
| Best use case | Style-led road builds or broad aftermarket replacements where the wheel is mostly a visual upgrade. | Road, fast-road and track-minded builds where lower mass, brake room, tyre support and a clean motorsport face all matter. |
REX-06 V2 should not be selected by diameter alone. The best result comes from matching wheel width, offset, centre bore, spoke shape, brake package, tyre size and ride height as one package.
For daily and fast-road use, LFI usually prioritises clean stance, practical tyre support, brake clearance, hub-centric machining and a load target that fits the car.
For sticky tyres, hard braking or circuit use, LFI can review stronger load targets, knurled beads, reinforcement ribs and tyre slip behaviour before production.
REX-06 V2 works best where a clean motorsport face, low mass and exact fitment matter more than a loud novelty design.
MINI F56 / F57, Toyota GR86, Toyota GT86 ZN6, Civic Type R FL5, MX-5 ND and MX-5 NC builds reward lower unsprung mass and exact tyre support.
Porsche 911, Cayman / Boxster, BMW M2 G87, BMW M3 / M4 G80 G82, Audi RS5 and Mercedes-AMG GT builds need brake clearance and offset accuracy to work together.
Volkswagen Golf GTI / Golf R, Audi A5 / S5 / RS5, BMW 3 Series G20, Lexus IS and similar road builds suit a timeless forged-wheel look rather than a one-season trend.

Use the LFI slider to see how width, diameter and offset affect face depth before REX-06 V2 is drawn around brake clearance, tyre position and the final vehicle stance.
Optional knurled bead seats help reduce tyre movement on high-grip applications, including track use, hard braking, drag launches, and sticky tyre setups.
Optional annular barrel ribs can add rigidity where the final vehicle specification, road condition, tyre package, or load target calls for additional reserve.
These are real Google review excerpts from LFI custom forged wheel customers, not REX-06-only reviews. They support the same buying decision: measured fitment, proper advice and wheels built around the car.
I reached out to LFI for a set of wheels for my BMW X3M. I was looking for a clean motorsport look with an ultimate goal of lightweight. After some back and forth I landed on a set of TRS01 in a 20"/18" combo. Delivery took roughly 7.5 weeks from the date of my order and everything arrived sound.
Google reviewFantastic designs, even greater people behind the company. Kevin and Joshua are amazing people who give really good advice on the looks, cuts, sizing and offsets. They are good with how to build the best mechanically appropriate rims for your car.
Google reviewFantastic designs, quality, and delivery time. This is the second set of custom rims I've made with them and the results are awesome both times. The fitment is always perfect. So, no need for spacers.

REX-06 V2 is a made-to-order 6061-T6 monoblock forged wheel with a balanced multi-spoke racing design. LFI specifies width, offset, centre bore, PCD, brake clearance, load target, finish and tyre pairing around the car.
REX-06 V2 is the more versatile multi-spoke racing forged wheel direction. Its weight-saving character comes from I-beam spoke shaping and side-through beam pocketing. REX-0R Superleggera is the more extreme lightweight architecture. REX-06 V2 is easier to place on a wider range of road, fast-road and track-inspired builds.
The REX-06 V2 spoke is treated like a beam rather than a flat decorative plate. Material is kept along the load path and around the spoke flanges, while lower-value side mass is pocketed away to improve stiffness per gram.
Side-through beam pocketing is the visible and structural removal of excess material from the side of the spoke beam. On REX-06 V2, this helps reduce rotating and unsprung mass while keeping the main spoke path, hub transition and rim connection purposeful.
Final weight changes with diameter, width, offset, bolt pattern, brake clearance, load target and machining depth. A 17x7J REX-06 V2 reference specification is approximately 6.15 kg / 13.6 lb per wheel.
REX-06 V2 is planned across 16 to 21 inch applications. Width, offset, centre bore, bolt pattern and brake clearance are confirmed per vehicle before production.
REX-06 V2 suits compact performance cars, lightweight road cars, Porsche 911, BMW M, Mercedes-AMG, Audi S and RS, Lexus F, MINI, GR Yaris, GR86, GT86 and clean Japanese or European performance builds.
